Capital murder trial pushed back to 2025 for Madison County man accused of killing 3 family members

Madison County Prosecutor Matt Durrett confirmed the trial for Hunter Chenoweth has been reset for Jan. 21, 2025, becoming the second delay in his case.

MADISON COUNTY, Arkansas — The capital murder trial for a Madison County man who allegedly killed three family members in February 2021 has been pushed back to 2025.

Madison County Prosecutor Matt Durrett confirmed the trial for 25-year-old Hunter Chenoweth has been reset for Jan. 21, 2025.

Court documents say the trial, which was scheduled to begin on April 22, was delayed for a second time because one of the witnesses had a medical emergency on April 18. Due to the medical emergency, the witness said she was "not able to go anywhere anytime soon."

The first delay happened in November 2023 when a handgun, believed to be the murder weapon, was found near Conway.

Chenoweth was arrested on Feb. 24, 2021, in central Arkansas after being accused of abducting a child and murdering three family members— Tami Lynn Chenoweth, 51, James Stanley McGehee, 59, and Cheyenne Chenoweth, 26.

Chenoweth pleaded not guilty to three capital murder charges in March 2021.
