FORT SMITH, Ark. — According to the Fort Smith Police Department, a motorcyclist died after a crash with a car at Fresno Street and Towson Avenue on July 6, 2023.
The crash report, says the motorcycle was being driven by 31-year-old Austin Thompson of Vian at around 7:40 p.m. when the crash happened. Thomspon was headed northbound on Towson Ave while a 2006 HHR Chevrolet was also on Towson in the turning lane to go east on Fresno St, officials say.
According to the crash report, that's when the Chevrolet turned in front of the motorcycle on a yellow flashing light, the motorcycle tried to stop but hit the Chevrolet head-on, killing Thompson.
