Registrations now open for free men's health virtual seminar

While this is a "condition that's more often talked about among women," men also suffer from it, Baptist Health said.

FORT SMITH, Ark. — Baptist Health is hosting a free men's health virtual seminar on April 11 at 6 p.m.

The seminar will be held by Baptist Health Urologist, John D. Terrell.

Dr. Terrell will be covering men's pelvic health, including urinary incontinence (UI). According to Baptist Health, UI is "leaking of urine that you can't control." This can happen during natural bodily actions such as a sneeze or a cough.

While this is a "condition that's more often talked about among women," men also suffer from it, Baptist Health said.

According to Baptist Health this can be caused by:

  • Prostate cancer surgery
  • Neurologic disorders
  • Enlarged prostate surgery
  • Radiation and pelvic trauma

Because of the possibility that someone can have an unexpected leak, Baptist Health this can affect "emotional, psychological and social life." Approximately 500,000 men in the world "suffer from stress urinary incontinence," Baptist Health said. Fortunately, there are treatment options for this that Baptist Health says are covered by insurance.

This will all be covered in detail during the virtual seminar. Participants can join anonymously, and ask questions during the seminar. To register for the seminar, click here
