Bentonville welcomes its first female K9 handler in its history

They both graduated from a 4-week training, joining the department's other five K9 teams.

BENTONVILLE, Ark. — The City of Bentonville is not only welcoming a new K9, but its also highlighting an officer making history. 

In a social media post, the city shared its newest Bentonville Police Department K9, Hugo. The city is also celebrating Officer Kodee Powell who marks the police department's first female K9 officer. 

They both graduated from a 4-week training, joining the department's other five K9 teams, the city said.

The city said Officer Powell was also recognized as Officer of the Year in 2023.
