One man killed in a traffic accident on Hwy. 71 in Rogers

The identity of the man killed in a multi-vehicle traffic accident in Rogers Tuesday night has been released.

ROGERS, Ark. — Emergency crews responded to a multi-vehicle traffic accident Tuesday (Sept. 29) evening in Rogers that left one man dead.

The crash happened in the 2000-block of South 8th Street on Highway 71. 

According to a fatal crash summary from Arkansas State Police, Jose Almanza-Anaya, 28, of Springdale was traveling south on Highway 71 when he crossed into the northbound lane and collided with a semi-truck head-on. 

Almanza died later from injuries sustained in the crash. His body is being held at the Benton County Coroner's Office. 

It's unclear at this time what caused Almanaza to drive into the northbound lane.  

RFD is on the scene of a multi-vehicle traffic accident in the 2000-block of South 8th Street. The IC is reporting one fatality.
