Gymbacks advance to nationals, first time in six years

This is the ninth nationals berth in program history and first since the format changed from 12 teams to eight in 2019.

FAYETTEVILLE, Arkansas — Arkansas gymnastics is heading to the NCAA Gymnastics Championships in Fort Worth, TX. 

The Gymbacks finished Saturday with a score of 197.875, the second-highest in program history. SEC counterpart LSU will also be in competing at nationals after finishing the day with a 198.250. 

Arkansas set a new regional record on beam with a score of 49.525 thanks to Kalyxta Gamiao leading off the event with a 9.950. This is a new career high for the junior and matched an Arkansas regional record. 

Arkansas will compete at either 3:30 or 8 p.m. in the semifinals sessions of the national championships Thursday April 18 at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, TX. 

The top two teams from each session will compete on April 20 in the national final.
