Oklahoma voting guide for March 2024 primary election
From races to polling sites, here's all you need to know to vote in Oklahoma.
The primary election is on March 5, 2024, in Oklahoma, and 5NEWS has everything you need to know before you cast your vote.
Super Tuesday, or the primaries, is an election held before the general election for voters to decide between candidates that will go on to represent their party in the general election. For example, Oklahomans will decide whether Donald Trump, Nikki Haley, and other GOP contenders for president will be the Republican candidate in November.
Oklahoma is joining 14 other states for the primaries on March 5. Oklahoma is only looking to vote in Republican and Democratic contests. There will be no state or local offices on the ballot.
According to the Oklahoma Election Board, nearly 2.3 million residents registered to vote in the state as of March 1.
Out of the 2.3 million, LeFlore County has 28,822 registered voters and Sequoyah County has 23,765 registered voters.

Polls will be open on Election Day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

What to Bring List of What You Need at the Ballot Box
You will need to show ID to vote in Oklahoma. You may show your Voter Identification card issued to you by your County Election Board. You may also show any document issued by the United States, the State of Oklahoma, or a federally recognized tribal government if it includes your name (must substantially match your name in the precinct registry), a photo, and an expiration date that is later than the election in which you are voting.
Acceptable forms include:
- Oklahoma driver's license
- Oklahoma ID Card
- US passport
- Tribal ID
- US military ID
- Voters without ID: If you are unable to provide ID, you will be able to vote a provisional ballot and prove your identity by signing a sworn affidavit.
Candidates Details on Primary Races in Oklahoma
As Oklahoma has no state or local offices on the primary ballot, voters will only need to decide on presidential candidates.
In the Democratic primaries, President Joe Biden is running against U.S. Rep. Dean Phillips, who represents the 3rd District of Minnesota.
The Republican primaries will decide between former President Donald Trump, former United Nations Ambassador and South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, or Texas pastor Ryan Binkley.
In the presidential contests, Biden and Trump have dominated their respective races for the nomination. Biden has won every contest so far by wide margins. His closest race was in New Hampshire, where he skipped the primary but still won by more than 40 percentage points when supporters mounted a write-in effort on his behalf. In Michigan, where a protest vote resulted in “Uncommitted” winning two delegates, Biden still received more than 81% of the statewide vote. Trump has won seven of the eight contests in which he and Haley both appeared on the ballot. His 11-point win in New Hampshire was the narrowest of his victories.
Haley has performed best in Democratic-leaning areas, as evidenced by her win in the Washington, D.C., primary on Sunday, her first of the campaign. Outside the Beltway, she has also benefited from independents and Democrats participating in Republican primaries, suggesting that her strongest performances could come in places with open primaries, which are not limited to participation by registered Republicans.
