OHP: Vehicle crashes into parked fire truck in Adair County

Officials with WFD said crews were "working a 2-vehicle crash" and the fire truck was parked to block traffic.

ADAIR COUNTY, Okla. — According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) a person crashed into a parked fire truck on Wednesday, March 13, at around 9:18 p.m.

The crash happened on U.S. Highway 59 and Chewey Road in Adair County, according to OHP. The release states a 2010 Hyundai Sonata was headed southbound when the Westville Fire Department (WFD), was "working a 2-vehicle crash." 

The fire truck was parked to block traffic but the the driver of the Hyundai didn't move over and hit the fire truck, the report said. WFD said the driver "didn't appear to slow down at all," despite the fire truck lights flashing. 

The crews and driver of the Hyundai were not injured during the crash, but a passenger in the Hyundai was. According to OHP, the passenger was taken to the hospital and was "admitted in stable condition."

The report states the driver was "under the influence of alcohol."
