Class canceled, roads closed after water line break near NWACC

NWACC said that it did not have running water due to a water main break, causing classes to be canceled.

BENTONVILLE, Ark. — The Northwest Arkansas Community College's (NWACC) Bentonville campus is closing early on April 23 due to a water line break.

In a Facebook post, NWACC said that it did not have running water due to a water main break.

"Due to this issue, the campus will close at 4:30 p.m. today. All classes will be canceled. All bathrooms are out of order. N Water Tower Rd is closed and traffic is being redirected," the post said.

NWACC says that campus officials are working on resolving the issue, and that more information will be shared as it is available.

Debbie Griffin with the City of Bentonville said that a contractor working on Water Tower Road hit a 12-inch water line. It has been shut off and Water Tower Road has been shut down from Meadowbrook to SE NWACC Blvd.

The city projects that the road will be closed through the end of the week.

Crews are on the scene and say that the impact to the surrounding neighborhood is minimal.

Griffin says that systems show that NWACC should have water, but the city is still being told that the school doesn't have water.
