Missing teen located safely, Fort Smith Police Department confirms

The teen, who was reported missing on March 21, was located safely on April 1.

FORT SMITH, Ark. — Update: Aric Mitchell with the Fort Smith Police Department (FSPD) confirmed a previously reported missing teen has been located safely on April 1.

According to FSPD, the teen was last seen on March 21 in the 1400 block of North J Street. Police say the 17-year-old was considered an endangered runaway.

Shortly after FSPD sent out a report that the teen was missing, Arkansas State Police (ASP) sent out a statewide alert.

ASP said the teen sent a single reply to a text where she said she was far from Fort Smith. "An attempt to ping her cell phone indicated it was disconnected," according to ASP.

Police said she had medical conditions that required medication.
