Arrest made in Fort Smith shooting that left 1 injured

Police said one victim was transported to a local hospital.

FORT SMITH, Ark. — Police have arrested a man in connection to a shooting incident in Fort Smith that left one person hospitalized. This happened on Friday, March 22, at around 11:15 p.m., according to the Fort Smith Police Department (FSPD).

FSPD said they responded to the call of the shooting at the 1900 block of North I Street. 

According to their news release, a male victim was found by police and transported to a local hospital. Officials did not release any details on the victim's injuries. 

Police said they interviewed several people as part of the investigation. On Saturday, March 23, FSPD reported the arrest of Riley Tobler, 22, in connection to the shooting. Tobler is being charged with first-degree battery.

Police said they believe this is an isolated incident and more information will be provided when available.
