SPD identified the officer as Corporal Danny Wright, who has reportedly been with the department for 25 years.

SPRINGDALE, Ark — The Springdale Police Department has identified the officer currently on paid leave after reportedly shooting and killing a man earlier this week.

On March 12, the Springdale Police Department (SPD) responded to reports of an armed man allegedly damaging cars and threatening people on Norfolk Avenue. The man has been identified as 30-year-old Dimitri Calvert.

Calvert was allegedly wielding a knife. Police say that he refused to drop the knife, and the officer discharged his firearm. Calvert was transported to a local hospital and pronounced dead.

Today, SPD identified the officer as Corporal Danny Wright, who has reportedly been with the department for 25 years.

Wright is still on leave pending the outcome of the investigation into deadly force being conducted by the Washington County Sheriff's Office.
