First Thursday 'Elemental' festival in Fayetteville canceled due to inclement weather

The family friendly festivals feature outdoor arts, live music, food trucks, group bike rides and more.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — First Thursday is bringing back its vibrant festivals to Fayetteville Square, starting this May. 

From June to October a series of festivals will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month. Each festival has its own theme.

The free and family-friendly festivals feature outdoor arts, live music, food trucks, group bike rides and more. 

Festival themes

May 2: Canceled

Due to inclement weather, Experience Fayetteville announced this event has been canceled. 

"National Weather Service has advised us of a very high likelihood of storms Thursday, May 2, and First Thursday has been canceled. Please plan to join us on June 6!"

  • Theme: Elemental 
    • Festivalgoers are invited to "explore the elements of Fire, Earth, Water and Air."
  • Music: Shannon Wurst
  • Presentations
    • Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s mobile aquarium.
    • Aerialists and fire artists from Ozark Cirque.
    • Art Experience will lead a festive puppet parade.
    • Slow Roll bike ride in celebration of Movement May.

June 6

  • Theme: Avant Garden
    • "A celebration of all things green and blooming where art meets nature."

July 4

  • No festival due to the first Thursday of the month falling on a holiday.

Aug 1 

  • Theme: Game On
    • A variety of games for the whole family

Sept. 5

  • Theme: Dog Daze: 
    • Bring your dogs and enjoy a dog pageant. 

Oct 3

  • Theme: Technicolor
    • Light show and activities on the square "inspired by cinama."
