A new Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Northwest Arkansas for Thursday morning.
Accumulation will be light and generally less than 1/2 of an inch but will create hazards on roads and likely most bridges and overpasses.
Radar trends at 10pm Wednesday continue to show an area of sleet and freezing rain moving in from Oklahoma which will arrive in our area near midnight.
By 1AM Thursday the freezing rain and sleet mix will affect mostly Northwest Arkansas with some light amounts in the River Valley. Temperatures in the Fort Smith area might be just above freezing while temperatures in NW Arkansas will fall to near 30º allowing sleet and freezing rain to accumulate on bridges and overpasses.
By 4AM Thursday the area of freezing rain will move out towards the east with mostly drizzle or light rain during the daytime hours and temperatures in the 30s.
By 9pm Thursday, there are some indications that rain may change to snow faster farther south. This could lead to snow in the Ouachitas.
