Victim identified in deadly Gravette crash

According to Gravette Fire Department Captain Travis Harp, one has been killed in the multiple-vehicle accident.

GRAVETTE, Ark. — Authorities have identified the victim in a deadly multi-vehicle crash on Highway 72 in Gravette.

According to a crash report from the Arkansas Department of Public Safety, 40-year-old Christopher Derossett of Siloam Springs died from injuries sustained in the crash.

The crash happened Tuesday afternoon about a mile southwest of Highway 549. It closed all lanes of traffic on Highway 72 between 12:45 p.m. and 3:28 p.m.

The Gravette Fire and Police Department, Centerton Fire Department, and Pafford EMS responded to the scene. 

According to Captain Travis Harp with Gravette Fire Department, the victim was trapped in his vehicle when responders arrived. 

"An air ambulance was initially called to the scene, but due to the patient's condition, they were transported by ground ambulance to a local emergency department," Harp said.

There were four other vehicles involved in the accident. The deceased was the only person treated and transported. 

5NEWS arrived to the scene of the accident and was told by officers the area was being treated as a crime scene.

Harp said the Benton County Sheriff's deputies are investigating the accident and traffic has returned to normal.
