VIDEO: Allen, Williams, Arkansas Ready for Louisiana

Brandon Allen and Jonathan Williams talk about being first-time starters as game day approaches.

The University of Arkansas kicks off the 2013 football season against Louisiana-Lafayette Saturday at 3 p.m. inside Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. Brandon Allen and Jonathan Williams will get the starts at quarterback and running back. The offensive players and coaches talked with the media about it on Tuesday.

Here's the recap:

Running backs coach Joel Thomas on Jonathan Williams being named the starting running back: The challenge is don't give up that title. We want competition at running back and that's how they'll get better.

Running back Jonathan Williams on being named the starter: Coach Bielema has a great pipeline of running backs. Having him name me the starter is an accomplishment. Been watching college football since a little kid and now my dream is coming true.

Offensive Coordinator Jim Chaney on Jonathan Williams: He's physical and will get more aggressive. Has high hopes for him. He's driven.

Quarterback Brandon Allen on being the starter: Have more confidence in my game over last year. I feel more prepared with more reps, fine tuning the offense.

Offensive Coordinator Jim Chaney on Allen: He's as ready as he's going to be. He's prepared well. He's excited to get on the field. He's worked hard.

Javontee Herndon on Allen: He's the leader on the field. He's much more comfortable than last year, a 180 degree difference. We can expect him to throw good deep balls.
