Arkansas Razorbacks win in upset against Tennessee Volunteers

The Hogs, coming off a disappointing loss, took on the Vols in only their second home game this season.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The Arkansas Razorbacks (4-2) were hoping for an upset and they got one as they took on the No. 4 ranked Tennessee Volunteers (4-1) in Donald W. Reynolds Stadium in Fayetteville.

The game kicked off at around 6:30 p.m. CST.

The Hogs are coming off a disappointing loss against the Texas A&M Aggies for the final Southwest Classic on Sept. 28.

Q1

Arkansas: 3

Tennessee: 0

The Hogs got the ball to start the game and marched right down the field but faced a 4th and goal from the 2 yard-line. Sam Pittman elected to kick the field goal and converted. The Hogs led 3-0 early.

The Vols went three and out giving the ball back to Arkansas, however the Hogs would fail to convert a 4th and 1 giving the ball back to Tennessee. The Hogs would still lead 3-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Arkansas: 3

Tennessee: 0

The Hogs had a nice drive going but faced yet another 4th and 1, Taylen Green kept the ball but came up short and Arkansas turned it over. Hogs still up 3-0.

The next drive the Hogs once again got down field but had to settle for another field goal this one much longer and it was no good, the score remained the same.

The Hogs would get one more stop on defense and go into the half on top of #4 Tennessee 3-0.

Q3

Arkansas: 13

Tennessee: 14

The Vols got the ball to start the 2nd half, and they took advantage as Tennessee running back Dylan Sampson breaks a 53-yard run to the Arkansas 6 yard-line. He would finish the drive a play later with a 6-yard Touchdown run to give Rocky Top a 7-3 lead with 12:33 left in the 3rd Quarter.

After a three and out for Arkansas, Tennessee got the ball back and moved right down the field once again as Sampson would get into the endzone once again to extend the Vols lead to 11.

The Hogs would respond with a big-time drive that was 8 plays 75 yards and ended with a Ja'quinden Jackson Touchdown to put the Hogs back within 4 trailing 14-10.

Q4

Arkansas: 19

Tennessee: 14

Arkansas got the ball back and had a solid drive until QB Taylen Green got hurt. They would have to settle for a chip shot field goal. Arkansas trails by just one, 14-13.

Hogs took a 19-14 lead in the last two minutes of the game.
