For Greenland and West Fork It’s a One-Game Season

The two rivals want to beat each other more than anything else during the football season. Greenland can also win a 3A-1 Conference Championship in the process.

“Both small towns,” said Greenland senior Tylor McClanahan. “Nothing to do but play football and have a little fun, have a little rivalry game. Everybody's talking about it. Both towns are ready to go, ready to rock.”

“We talk smack to each other and we'll see them probably the rest of our lives so it's a must win game,” said Greenland senior Kellin Lee.

“We've been playing them since peewee and it's always been a big goal,” said Greenland senior Cody Fletcher. “West Fork, you'll hear it.”

This Friday night Greenland can put to rest that three-game losing streak to West Fork and in the process they can win a 3A-1 Conference Championship.

“We haven't got it the last two years,” said Lee. “In junior high and ninth grade we got it. We've been working at it these last two years and we haven't got it yet. So that's our biggest goal this year.”

But if you ask around this team it's almost like a one game season. They want to beat West Fork so bad. Nothing else is more paramount.

“The conference title is great,” said Greenland coach Lee Larkin. “It's probably more important to beat West Fork. If you beat West Fork than other things happen. So it's a big game for us.”

There's more on the line here too. If Greenland wins they can have three home playoff games. So this is a win-win for the pirates; a conference title and bragging to the team down the road.

“I don't know which one's better than the other but they're both very important to our team,” said McClanahan. “Of course West Fork being just down the road needs to be a win, always.

Kickoff is set for 7pm Friday night in West Fork.
