FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — It was the number one team in the country this season hosting the top team in the nation from last season in a top ten clash Thursday night and #1 Arkansas vs #8 LSU lived up to the hype.

Early on it was a defensive battle between the two SEC juggernauts, but that is to be expected when Razorback ace Hagen Smith is on the mound. In typical fashion, Smith made the extraordinary look easy going 6 innings while racking up 12 strikeouts to give him his fifth game this season with double-digit k's.

However there was a stretch of two batters in the fourth where Smith seemed out of character, allowing back-to-back home runs to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead.

Unlike their 1-0 win the previous weekend in Auburn though, the offense gave Smith plenty of run support on the night to make up for it.

In the bottom of the fourth, the DiamondHogs would answer by scoring two runs of their own off a Jack Wagner homerun and a Peyton Stovall single to right.

They would add another in the 7th off a walk, before Kendall Diggs put the exclamation point on the win with a three-run home run in the 8th to all but lock up the 7-4 victory.

with the win Razorbacks improve to 6-1 in SEC play and will look to take the series from the Tigers on Friday, first pitch is set for 7 P.M.
