Buffalo National River sites welcome the public for 2024 Solar Eclipse

Officials say the Tyler Bend and Dillards Ferry areas will not only have the most parking, but will also have "some of the longest totality."

HARRISON, Ark. — The National Park Service (NPS) have announced plans for the total solar eclipse at the Buffalo National River (BNR).

As the eclipse is set to pass straight across the Natural State on April 8, NPS says the "vast majorityof the Buffalo National River will be in the path of its totality.

"Buffalo National River will be in the path of totality as the moon passes in front of the sun, casting a shadow on Earth," NPS said.

NPS recommends planning ahead and "be prepared," by allowing extra time to travel and carpool if possible. NPS also recommends researching park surrounding businessses, services and activities that may be available

What to expect

Heavy traffic and visitation are expected "days leading up to and after the eclipse" at BNR.

  • Camping is not allowed "within a half-mile of any developed area" unless it is within a designated campsite.
  • NPS asks visitors to keep all vehicles on maintained roadways and parking lots without blocking traffic.
  • Six people are allowed per campsite and 25 for group sites.
  • Saving campsites is not allowed. All campsites should be used throughout the night.
  • Do not leave any equipment or trash.
