FORT SMITH, Ark. — Tony Romo, the former Dallas Cowboys quarterback turned top NFL commentator, will be flying into Fort Smith to play in the All Pro Tour (APT) section of the United Way Classic (UWC) golf tournament this week, according to the APT.

The fifth-annual UWC will be held at the Hardscrabble Country Club in Fort Smith from May 6 - 11, and over 150 players will compete for the grand prize of $20,000 in the tournament from May 8 -11.

The UWC is a free event open to the public, encouraging residents to come and watch their favorites take a few swings.

Multiple additional events are scheduled around the tournament, like a youth clinic on May 6, a Pro-Am on May 7, a party on the Patio on May 10, and a trophy presentation on May 11.

The youth clinic, open to the first 100 applicants from first grade through twelfth grade, offers free tutoring for youngsters with a passion.

The Pro-Am will see four applicants paired with a pro golfer for a morning and afternoon flight, with a start at 7:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The United Way of Fort Smith (UWFS) was founded in 1928 to raise funds for local support agencies that provide food, shelter, and education to those in need around the area.

President and CEO of UWFS Shea Foldvary said that since the tournament began in 2020, the UWC has raised over $330,000 for partner agencies.
