Grammy award winning country music star Tim McGraw will perform at the Walmart Arkansas Music Pavilion (AMP) Thursday (Aug. 7). However, rain could be in the forecast during his performance.
It's rare for the AMP or the Walton Arts Center (WAC) to cancel an event due to bad weather, according to its inclement weather policy. If it does cancel, the notification will get posted on its website and social media accounts.
If the performance is still scheduled, but the weather makes it impossible for a concert-goer to attend, the WAC's website states to call the box office for options.
Tim McGraw's concert is the largest concert so far in this AMP's opening season, according to Terri Trotter, Chief Operating Officer for the AMP and WAC.
Trotter said the concert is sold out and 10,000 people are expected to attend.
"It's going to be a very popular concert so there will be a lot of people there," Trotter said. "It's going to, I think, a big party atmosphere, people are going to have a lot of fun."
Parking hasn't been an issue at the AMP's new location, Trotter said.
The venue has six lots, there are empty fields and other parking lots concert go-ers can use. The Mexican restaurant Chuy's lets people park on its lot if they eat there.
”We have our own parking staff, we have a security staff and we also work with the Rogers police department," Trotter said. "I think one of the great things about the AMP is that traffic has flowed so smoothly and it’s been amazing how we’ve been able to get cars in and out quickly and efficiently.”
There are 3,000 seats under cover and general admission is on the lawn.
On sold out nights, Trotter said to limit the size of the blanket or beach towel used in the lawn area because it could be crowded.
"We are asking people to be very courteous with using small towels and blankets, not spreading them out and taking up a lot of room," Trotter said. "We'll be helping with that.
Gates open at 6 p.m. and the concert starts at 7:30 p.m.
