A convicted sex offender was arrested Friday in Fayetteville after police say he sexually assaulted a 12-year-old girl.
Donnie Massie, 57, was arrested by Fayetteville police on suspicion of second-degree sexual assault. He remained Saturday in the Washington County Detention Center on $25,000 bond. He has a court date set for Monday, and an arraignment set for Dec. 6, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
The victim told police on Wednesday that Massie inappropriately touched her and told her about other places he wanted to touch her.
In addition to those accusations, the victim said Massie would walk her to the bus stop, put his arm around her waist and tell her “if she was old enough, they would be boyfriend and girlfriend,” the reporting officer wrote in a preliminary report from the Washington County Prosecutor’s Office.
Massie was convicted of second-degree sexual assault in 2004 following similar allegations made by a 9-year-old girl, the preliminary report states.
