ROGERS (KFSM) -- A Rogers woman was killed when she was hit by a motorist while she was jogging Wednesday night (Feb. 4).
Jennifer Bikel, 40, was jogging around 6:20 p.m. when she was hit by a vehicle driven by Joseph Farnan, according to a Rogers Police press release.
Farnan told police that he was exiting a West Village Parkway driveway and pulled out onto the roadway after looking north for southbound traffic, police said in the release. When he turned right, his vehicle struck Bikel, who was jogging on the sidewalk.
Bikel was taken to the Mercy Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
Rush Running Co. shared the following tribute to Bikel on their Facebook page:
"It is with incredible sadness and disbelief that we have been informed that Jennifer Bikel (right) passed away last night after being struck by a vehicle while running in Rogers. She was a beautiful, kind, caring person and an amazing member of our running community. We post for two reasons...first, please keep her family in your prayers. They really need all the help they can get right now. Secondly, not to say that Jennifer wasn't, but PLEASE be careful when you're out on the roads. We don't care if you're in a vehicle, on a bicycle, or running/walking...please be careful and aware. Life is too precious and too fragile."
Police said the investigation is ongoing. No citations have been issued.
