(KFSM) -- Children and adults trapped in stalled vehicles were carried to dry ground Tuesday (Nov. 17) morning at Ramsey Jr. High in Fort Smith by the school's custodian and gym teacher.

On North 32nd Street, Ken Kupchick captured people using a raft to get down the road, looking more like a river.

While drivers tested their luck, some found themselves getting help from crews throughout the River Valley.

In Northwest Arkansas, a thunderstorm caused windows at Elmdale Elementary School to be damaged, leading to students evacuating while the school was checked out.

But for those who weren't in school Tuesday, Murphy Park in Springdale, which was recently emptied for renovations, could have served a better swimming pool than a park.

Chief Meteorologist Garrett Lewis said in 24 hours, the entire area saw more than three inches of rain from the flash floods.

All of that rain is about half of the monthly average for rain totals, in just a matter of hours.
