The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department closed Highway 28 because of flooding Friday.
The department said heavy rains caused several sections of the highway close to bridges and other structures to be washed out. The road closure covers Highway 28 from Parks to the Yell County line.
Department officials said repair work would begin immediately but they expected the road to remain closed for a week.
Officials said Highways 270 and 71 have reopened.
