FAYETEVILLE (KFSM) - A local school in Fayetteville is getting an entire interior renovation over the summer.

Teachers at the Agee-Lierly Life Preparation Services Center were busy packing up their classrooms on Wednesday (June 3).

The school will be undergoing a half-million dollar makeover. It's the first major renovation since the building was built in 1965.

"They are coming in and they are going to gut everything and then redo our building, so it's really nice for the students," said Kelly Riley, a teacher at ALLPS. "We are really excited about that, but in the process we have to box up everything we have and get ready for them to do the makeover."

Riley said she's looking forward to next year, because when her students return from summer break they will have a brand new classroom.

"I'm really excited for the kids, because I feel like the Fayetteville School District is showing our kids that they're important that they mean something," she said. "When they come back from the summer and see the change it's going to be amazing."

Work on the school will begin June 8.

The project is expected to be finished when students return for the first day of classes in August.
