ELKINS (KFSM) – A driver was killed after he lost control of his Huyndai Sonata Saturday (Aug. 16) about 11 a.m., according to a state police report.
The report states Billy Vanbrunt was traveling eastbound on highway 16 near Elkins when he drove off the road. Vanbrunt crashed into a ditch as well as branches and a small tree, state police said.
The driver’s car then got a flat tire, went up an embankment overturning his car before coming to a stop on the passenger’s side.
Eyewitness statements and evidence reveal Vanbrunt didn’t use his brakes, the report states.
The driver’s body was sent to the Washington County Coroner’s office and the accident is still under investigation.
