Music superstar Lana Del Rey calls Rogers performance a career-defining moment

A spokesperson with the Walmart AMP says that the concert was the venue's biggest sale of the year.

ROGERS, Ark — In a new interview, music superstar Lana Del Rey calls her August concert at the Walmart AMP in Rogers a career-defining performance.

Del Rey's interview was published in November in Harper's Bazaar magazine. Among other things, she commented on her performance in Rogers and how she's "famous down in Arkansas."

"Something magical happened there recently," the article said. "She had been booked to play the Walmart amphitheater in Rogers, and the show had sold out in hours, leaving many fans who’d been waiting in the online queue to buy tickets out of luck."

The article said Del Rey caught up with a waitress at a Northwest Arkansas tavern after the concert was over. The waitress showed her a screenshot of the queue to get tickets; she had been number 80,000.

“When I saw that, that’s when I knew — it’s the moment,” Del Rey said. "Anything that's ever happened in my whole life, that's it."

Jennifer Wilson, the senior public relations director for the Walton Arts Center and the Walmart AMP, told 5NEWS that Del Rey's response shows just how special the night was.

"It was an amazing show, and we were so happy to be able to present it. This kind of response is just evidence that it was a really special night not just for us but for the fans and the artist," Wilson said.

Wilson notes that the concert was one of the biggest for the venue.

"This was our biggest onsale of the past year, and it was our quickest turnaround from announcement to show date," Wilson said.

Wilson said the venue would love to have her back, but that it's ultimately up to the artist's schedule.

"Of course we'd love to have her back. However, whether an artist performs at the Walmart AMP multiple times really depends less on an invitation and more on their tour schedule and our open dates," Wilson said. "But the fact that she had such a great experience when she was here — with the fans, the community and at the venue — goes a long way toward making an artist want to return."

"We hope to see her again soon," a Facebook post from the Walmart AMP said.
