Fort Smith's Regional Art Museum seeks submissions for 75-year time capsule

Organizers hope to include items that capture the era we're living in now, reflected through letters, pictures, and art pieces, along with public submissions.

FORT SMITH, Ark. — To celebrate 75 years of Fort Smith, the nearby Regional Art Museum (RAM) is asking residents across the River Valley to share items they think should go into a time capsule before the end of the year.

Organizers hope to include items that capture the era we're living in now, reflected through letters, pictures, and art pieces, along with public submissions.

RAM's Gallery Manager Casey Seamsn advises residents to "Just shoot us an email [at info@FSRAM.org] with a picture of [your submission], and why you think it's significant. It may not seem like a big deal but it really might mean everything to future generations."

The public can send in submissions through Nov. 24, and the time capsule burying event is on Dec. 9—the same day as the holiday art party. Organizers say it won't be opened again for another 75 years... in 2098.
