Texas developer buys 47 acres for rental housing project in Northwest Arkansas

Specific plans have not been determined, but Berkshire Lane said Johnson rezoned the property for up to 2,600 units with ancillary retail use before closing.

JOHNSON, Ark. — Real estate development and investment management firm Berkshire Lane Development Partners of Dallas announced it has acquired 47 acres in Johnson, a town adjacent to Springdale and Fayetteville, for a rental housing project.

Specific plans have not been determined, but Johnson rezoned the property for up to 2,600 units with ancillary retail use before the sale closed, Berkshire Lane said in a news release.

The company hopes to begin construction in 2025 with an apartment development and possibly a collection of single-family rental homes.  The property would be developed over the next decade to meet housing demand in the area.
