River Valley superintendent receives national certification

Dr. Morawski said this has been "one of the most valuable experiences" in his career.

FORT SMITH, Ark. — The Fort Smith Public Schools (FSPS) announced that its Superintendent, Dr. Terry Morawski has received a national certification from The American Association of School Administrators (AASA). 

FSPS said Dr. Morawski is one of 30 superintendents in the U.S. "who completed the AASA National Superintendent Certification Program this year." 

According to its website, this certification program said it focuses on the following: 

  • Transformational Leadership and Visioning
  • Understanding and Developing Effective Board-Superintendent Relations Including Legal Matters
  • Understanding and Ensuring Equity 
  • Navigating Community, State and National Politics 
  • The Impact of Economic Pressures, Budgeting and the Global Pandemic
  • Effective Instructional Leadership and Continuous School and System Improvement 
  • Impactful and Effective Communications including Social Media for All Stakeholders 
  • Serving Effectively as CEO and Education Leader in the District and Community  

Dr. Morawski said this has been "one of the most valuable experiences" in his career. 

“In light of the increasing challenges impacting our students and community, this opportunity to learn and share with some of the brightest education minds in the country has been extremely valuable.” said Dr. Morawski.
