Two arrested after allegedly leading law enforcement on high-speed chase in Northwest Arkansas

The Benton County Sheriff's Office said that deputies attempted a warrant arrest when the subjects fled, and a pursuit ensued.

ROGERS, Ark. — A man and a woman were arrested in Rogers on April 24 after allegedly leading multiple law enforcement agencies on a high-speed chase in Northwest Arkansas.

Justin Lee Larson was arrested and booked into the Benton County Jail for residential burglary, theft of property, contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, robbery, fleeing, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He's being held on a $100,000 bond.

Karah Lynn Melton was arrested and booked for tampering with physical evidence and possession of drug paraphernalia. She has since been released.

Court documents say that deputies were made aware of Larson's outstanding warrants and that he was expected to be at the IHOP in Rogers. After attempting to serve the warrant in the parking lot of the restaurant, Larson fled in his car with Melton in the passenger seat.

The Benton County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) and Arkansas State Police (ASP) became involved in the pursuit.

Larson was going east in the westbound lanes of Walnut Street in Rogers before getting on I-49 and going south. He was weaving in and out of traffic with speeds exceeding 120 mph, according to court documents.

Larson led police onto Hwy 612, then turning onto Hwy 112, an arrest affidavit said.

ASP attempted a tactical vehicle intervention, but Larson continued to flee. Returning to Hwy 612, with speeds now exceeding 130 mph, the troopers reported that objects were being thrown out of the passenger window of the suspect car. Court documents say those items included bags and papers.

The pursuit continued back onto I-49 where Larson continued weaving in and out of traffic, the affidavit said. He then exited back onto Walnut Street in Rogers. The pursuit ended on Olive Street where Larson jumped out of the car and ran behind some houses.

Melton, who remained in the car after Larson jumped out, was arrested without incident. Larson was located and arrested shortly after. The affidavit say that drug paraphernalia was found inside the car.

Court documents say that Larson had "an extensive criminal history" and was arrested in connection to the pursuit and a variety of outstanding warrants.

Larson is expected in court on June 3 in Benton County.
