Centerton 20-year-old accused of killing his mother pleads not guilty

Kamron Williams, 20, is accused of killing his mother on March 29.

CENTERTON, Ark. — A Centerton man accused of stabbing and killing his mother has been formally charged and pleaded not guilty.

In his arraignment on May 2, 20-year-old Kamron Williams pleaded not guilty to a charge of capital murder.

Prosecutors told 5NEWS that the death penalty is still on the table.

On March 29, Williams was arrested by Centerton police and booked into the Benton County Jail for capital murder, residential burglary, and interference with emergency communications on a $750,000 bond.

The incident took place on 116 Elm St. The victim has been identified as Kamron's mother, 51-year-old Vicki Williams.

Cpl. Christian Espitia, the public information officer for the Centerton Police Department (CPD), said that a child, later identified as Kamron's sister, called 911 around 9 a.m. to report a fight.

Kamron was interviewed by CPD after his arrest, telling officers that the incident began when his mother threatened to kick him out and call the police during an argument.

"Vicki entered her bedroom from the living room, which enraged Kamron because he thought that he was going to be homeless and that his family did not care about him," the affidavit said. He then allegedly knocked her to the ground, began punching her, and dragged her by her hair to the kitchen.

Court documents said that Kamron told police he grabbed a butcher-style knife and began stabbing his mother. Afterward, he went outside to sit and wait for the police. Vicki with wounds on her right abdominal area, right chest, right arm, and left throat.

"The throat wound was described as Vicki having her neck slashed," The affidavit said. Officers tried to perform life-saving measures, but she died at a nearby hospital.

Kamron's younger sister told interviewers that Kamron stabbed their mother while in the bedroom after Vicki said she was going to call the police. She stated that once in the kitchen, her brother retrieved a larger knife and continued the attack.

The affidavit notes that Kamron was issued a criminal trespass warning for Vicki's residence on Feb. 12, 2024, meaning that he was not allowed to set foot on the property.

Kamron's next hearing is scheduled for June 17 in Benton County.
