FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The City of Fayetteville is starting a new program to make it easier for residents who want to build a home.
The Permit-Ready Building Design Program aims to help make the building process faster for residents while saving money at the same time, since it will be free of cost. The program is specifically for the Downtown area and Walker Park neighborhoods.
Why is it only in certain areas?
Because this program will be in its initial phase, it has not approved other areas in the city just yet. The city said "If the program is successful, additional neighborhoods can be considered but may need different building designs that fit those neighborhoods."
Aside from this, the program is also focused on the redevelopment of those areas because it has some of the Fayetteville's oldest houses and "some of the highest rates of neighborhood development," the city said.

What kind of designs are there?
According to the city, there will be approximately 30 designs to choose from. The designs include:

- townhomes
- duplexes
- backyard cottages
