WASHINGTON COUNTY (KFSM) — Two key issues were voted down in the Washington County Quorum Court meeting on Thursday night (Dec. 15).
The justices of the peace failed to pass a proposal to provide eight weeks of paid parental leave to county employees.
The proposed bill would have been extended to both men and women who recently had a child or adopted.
A proposal to move 1.1 mils from the road fund to the county’s general fund was also voted down during the meeting.
This proposal would have taken away more than $2 million from cities in Washington County. It was proposed as a way to solve the county’s declining sales tax revenue.
