Forest Hills Restaurant caught fire in Eureka Springs

The fire department battled the fire for hours Wednesday (May 13).

EUREKA SPRINGS, Ark. — Forest Hills Restaurant on highway 62 in Eureka Springs caught fire Wednesday (May 13).

The fire department battled the fire for hours, but say it was a total loss.

There were people in the house, but they got out safely.

There were no injuries connected to the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Una Grace lives in Eureka Springs and says she saw and smell smoke from the fire through the evening.

She says this was a special building to many people. "It's a historical building with a lot of memories, and there's a lot of sadness around it."

Una says a family recently lost everything in a separate fire and was storing items that had been donated to them in the apartment space upstairs.

They've now lost all of those items.
