EF-2 tornado in Hot Springs downs trees, knocks out power

An overnight storm slammed Garland County, throwing trees onto houses and vehicles. The Hot Springs Fire Department says roads are mostly impassable.

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. — An EF-2 tornado touched down in Hot Springs during the overnight hours on Wednesday, knocking out power and throwing trees onto houses and vehicles.

The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for Garland and Hot Spring counties around 12:30 a.m. Central. At the time, the Hot Springs Fire Department said roads were "mostly impassable," including Lakeland Road, which has heavy damage.

There are also unconfirmed reports of injuries in the Hot Springs area because of the storm.
