NWS confirms EF-1 tornado in Arkansas Friday night

Crews with the National Weather Service Little Rock have now confirmed that an EF-1 tornado hit the areas near Sardis and East End in Saline County.

SARDIS, Ark. — Survey crews with the National Weather Service Little Rock have confirmed that an EF-1 tornado hit the areas near Sardis and East End in Saline County on Saturday.

Reports state that the tornado happened between 6:45 p.m. and 6:49 p.m. on February 9 with winds of about 95 mph and spanning to a width of about 500 yards.

The path that the tornado took was approximately 2.54 miles long.

There were no reported injuries or deaths from the tornado but it did cause destruction including downed trees and power lines. There was even a report of a tree having fallen on a house on Sardis Road.

First Electric and Entergy have been working in the area to make sure that downed powerlines are safe and not energized, and Saline County Road and Bridge has been working to help clear the roadways,

The East End Fire Department and the Saline County Office of Emergency Management have been assessing damage, working to make sure people are safe and that things can be cleared away quickly.
