1 dead, 3 injured after boat crash on Beaver Lake

According to officials, one person is dead and three were injured in a boat crash Friday, Sept. 10.

ROGERS, Ark. — Crews responded to a two-boat crash on Beaver Lake on Friday, Sept. 9.

According to officials, one person is dead and three are injured. Three of the victims were taken to Springdale hospitals.

Police identified Joseph “Joe” Dale Seargeant as the victim who was killed. A fundraiser has been set up by his family members on Facebook

"It's been rough,” said Tommy Seargent, Joe Seargent’s son. “It's really no words, it's been rough."

Helicopters were on the scene but were not used and crews stayed on the scene to help with fuel cleanup.

The crews who assisted included Hwy 94 East Fire Department, Marine 4571, HCFD Marine 8171, BLFD Marine 1271, Piney Point Fire Dept, Medic 7161, Medic 7163, Mercy Life Line 5, Arkansas Game & Fish Commission and Benton County Sheriff's Office Marine units

"He was a good dad, a good grandpa, a good man,” Tommy said. “He went out doing what he loved. He loved being out there on that lake, on that  boat."

Tommy says his dad was an avid sportsman and owned a plumbing business. “He made me who I am. He got me into plumbing, fishing…16th birthday he brought me a lifetime license because all we do is fish and hunt.”

Tommy says joe was preparing to go fishing with him Saturday night.

“It’s in GOD’s plan it may not always make sense, but he’s in a better place,” said Tommy.

Tommy says he spoke with his dad two hours before that crash. Their final words to each other "I love you”

“It means the world to me,” Tommy said explaining what it meant to say those words to his dad.

According to Tommy, Joe had type one diabetes and believes he could have passed out at the wheel. We asked game and fish about this...right now it says it is still investigating.

No further information has been released at this time.
