By the end of the month, the northern hemisphere has more nighttime than daytime. That will help the northern Canadian Plains start to cool down, helping to reinforce stronger cold fronts south into the United States. However, September still has many warm days for several Americans. In between the cooler days and the warm days, severe weather may become more likely.

Much of the western and northern U.S. will experience warmer than normal conditions this September, suggesting cold fronts may not be as strong coming in from Canada. Meanwhile a pocket of cooler than normal conditions are expected in the southern Plains, thanks to increased rain chances. It will still be humid in the south.

Snow will remain limited for the highest elevations in the northern Rockies. The vast majority of Americans only have to worry about rain and storms. It may be extra stormy closer to the Gulf Coast. There may eventually be tropical systems that bring rain, but especially for the first half of September, lingering fronts will help spark scattered storms day-after-day in the south.

WESTERN ARKANSAS

September is still typically very warm for Arkansas and Eastern Oklahoma with highs typically in the 80s the majority of the month. Below are the average highs at the start of the month to the end of the month, plus the average rainfall for September. These rain chances would come from pop-up storms in the afternoons.
