Rain chances enter the forecast Tuesday night and stick around for several days

Temperatures are rising this week as southern wind sends warm air into the region. Showers start working in over the later half of the week.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Warm weather has been stretching across 5COUNTRY today as south winds bring the heat. Breezy winds are increasing this evening with gusts over 20 mph. Strong winds dominate a majority of our Tuesday as winds blow near 30 mph. The wind won't stop temperatures from heating up as highs jump back into the mid to high 70s tomorrow afternoon.

Skies stay mostly sunny tomorrow until a system of showers develops off to our north. The tail end of these showers will dip across 5COUNTRY tomorrow evening, sitting over Ozarks overnight before thinning out Wednesday morning.

An active pattern will keep multiple rain chances around through the workweek and weekend. We'll be watching Friday and Saturday for some severe weather to mix in. We are looking at picking up anywhere from 1 to 3 inches of rainfall. Some locally higher rainfall totals could lead to minor flooding.

RAIN CHANCES RETURN TUESDAY NIGHT

Some spotty showers will accompany a front Tuesday evening and overnight. This isn't a big rain event Tuesday night, but rather the start of an active pattern that will keep rain chances in and out of the forecast through the upcoming weekend.

THUNDERSTORM POTENTIAL INCREASES LATE WEEK

Our rainy stretch kicks off with light, spotty showers rolling in Tuesday evening and lingering into Wednesday morning. This first system will drop temperatures slightly for Wednesday, but temperatures are on the rise throughout the rest of the week despite increasing rain chances. On and off showers sprinkle through Thursday before a more robust low rolls in to kick up a heavier system.

Late Friday and Saturday are the two days we'll be watching for the highest chances of some severe weather. Overall, we're expecting 1 to 3 inches of rainfall across 5COUNTRY, with some locally higher amounts are likely.
