One dead in wrong-way crash on I-49 in Rogers, victim identified

A 22-year-old female was identified as a victim in the deadly wrong-way crash.

ROGERS, Ark. — All southbound lanes of Interstate 49 near Exit 82 in Rogers closed Monday (July 27) night following a fatal wrong-way crash.

22-year-old London Holembeck, a passenger in the car driving the wrong way on the interstate, was killed, according to Arkansas State Police.

“The last time I saw her, I gave her a ride to the top of the hill and something in me told me to get out of the car and give her a hug and I did it,” Michael Holmbeck said.

Michael Holmbeck says that was Sunday night, the night before his 22-year-old daughter, London Holmbeck was killed in a wrong-way crash on 1-49 in Rogers.

“Everybody who met London fell in love with London. She’s touched so many lives. She had no enemies and she inspired me to become a better person,” he said.

The 24-year-old driver, Tristan Colvin, was injured in the crash. Colvin who is being treated at Mercy Hospital in Rogers was Holmbeck’s boyfriend. London’s step-mom, Allison Holmbeck says London was a wonderful human being.

“So beautiful, so delightful, so talented, the sweetest thing you’d ever meet. You might remember her from Hawaiian Bryan’s. She was cute little girl behind the register. We loved her very much and we miss her very much,” she said.

Holmbeck says she couldn’t have asked for a better step-daughter.

“She welcomed me with open arms and I just adored her so much, she was precious,” she said.

“And a lot of parents say that they are best friends with their children, London literally was my best friend,” he said.

It's unclear at this time what caused Colvin to drive the wrong way on the interstate.

A man from Bella Vista was also injured in the multi-vehicle collision.

A Facebook Fundraiser has been created to help pay for Holembeck's funeral expenses.

This is a developing story.
