Traffic on I-40 in Dyer stopped after multi-vehicle crash, helicopter landing to help those injured

Emergency crews are attempting to land a helicopter on Interstate 40 in Dyer to help those injured in a multi-vehicle crash.

DYER, Ark. — Emergency crews are attempting to land a helicopter on Interstate 40 in Dyer to rescue those injured in a multi-vehicle crash.

Crawford County Emergency Manager Brad Thomas says he's trying to stay out of the way of the first responders since this is just happening, but they are still gathering details. 

District 2 Fire, Mulberry Fire and Southwest EMS we're on the scene of the crash.

Thomas says all available emergency rescue crews near that area were called to help. 

The cause of the crash and those involved is unknown at this time.

Traffic was starting to get congested in that area and drivers had to be rerouted onto Highway 64, according to Thomas.

Thomas says traffic is back to normal and all responders have cleared the scene as of 5:15 p.m.
