Arkansas to face Virginia for first time in school history
Belk Bowl Virginia Tech

FAYETTEVILLE (KFSM) – Arkansas used momentum the past two seasons to propel itself to a postseason win but this season the Hogs head to a bowl game after a late season tumble.

The Razorbacks are headed to their third straight postseason game under Bret Bielema as the Hogs will face Virginia Tech in the Belk Bowl.

Arkansas has never faced the Hokies but will for the first time on Dec. 29 at 4:30 pm in Charlotte, North Carolina. The game will be televised on ESPN. Virginia Tech finished the regular season ranked No. 22 in the College Football Playoff rankings.

The Razorbacks (7-5) saw a 17-point second half lead disappear to last place Missouri in the regular season finale as Arkansas failed to win eight regular season games for the fourth straight year.

Virginia Tech (9-4) saw long time coach Frank Beamer retire after the 2015 season and was replaced by former Tulsa Union standout Justin Fuente. The Hokies posted a 6-2 record in the ACC and advantage the conference title game before falling to Clemson 42-35.

The Hokies faced another SEC foe early in the season as they were blown at against Tennessee, 45-24, as the two played inside the Bristol Motor Speedway in week two.
