FAYETTEVILLE, Ark — Some Razorback fans have mixed feelings about the upcoming football schedule, others are excited and some are unsure about breaking tradition.
One fan says he's cheered on the Razorbacks his entire life and never thought he'd see the Hogs take on Arkansas State. Now he wonders how the outcome of the game will affect the Razorback Football program.
If the Razorbacks lose to the Red Wolves, could it affect the program's recruiting and funding?
“If you play Arkansas State and lose to them there's a chance you might lose a recruit or two, some in-state talent,” fan Tim Terry said.
Others say the Razorbacks shouldn't back away from a game.
“It seems ingenuous to not play someone because you’re afraid of losing,” fan Hayden Walker said.
Little Rock locals say they are excited for people to come down to War Memorial Stadium to watch the game and host a new crowd.
“I think a lot of people want games back inside the stadium over there and it's really great for the morale of all the people around here.”
A big rivalry is on the horizon and some fans are looking forward to seeing how it will play out.
“It’s ran it’s course, it’s probably time to play them, I would just tell them to root hard for the Hogs and hope they win,” Terry said.
“I'll be able to see that game as a season ticket holder or hopefully see it, it’s going to be wild," said ASU fan Ray Harson.
Students say they will be trying to get that ticket as soon as it's available to try to have a chance to watch the historic game.
