SMU hires Springdale's Rhett Lashlee as head coach

The former Hog gets his first head coaching gig.

SPRINGDALE, Ark. — On Monday, the SMU football program officially hired Springdale native Rhett Lashlee as its head coach. Lashlee was most recently the offensive coordinator at Springdale High School. 

In high school Lashlee played for Shiloh where he led the Saints to two state championships. He then went onto Arkansas where he was the backup quarterback to Matt Jones.

Lashlee began his coaching career at Springdale High School under Gus Malzahn.
