LOWELL, Ark. (KFSM) — Traffic was backed up Monday (Dec. 30) morning for more than an hour due to a gravel spill on Interstate 49.

According to IDrive Arkansas, a dump truck lost a load of large rocks on the interstate on mile marker 76.7, in the northbound lanes of I-49 near Lowell.

The cause of the accident has not been released, but according to Danny Straessle with ARDOT, they believe that one of the trucks from a nearby quarry didn't have a gate locked down on the truck's bed.

Straessle says the rocks ranged in size from three to five inches.

No word yet if there were any injuries.
