PEA RIDGE, Ark. (KFSM) — A Pea Ridge High School football player died Thursday (Jan. 9).
The school district posted an announcement regarding sophomore Ayden Cotton’s death on Facebook the same day.
Michael Lisenbee with Pea Ridge Police said they responded to a call yesterday afternoon to assist the Pea Ridge Fire Department after the unexpected death of a juvenile at his place of employment.
The school district wrote they would have all district counselors available for students and teachers beginning at 7:15 this morning (Jan. 10).
Pastors will be on standby for those who need them.
Jimmie Anderson, Ayden’s uncle, released the following statement:
“Ayden was all of the best things a young man can be. He was kind, friendly, hilarious and loving beyond what is expected of a young man. He worked hard and willingly. He valued his family, friends, and teammates and enriched our lives. All who had the privilege of meeting him counted him as a friend. In that way only the best of us do.
We appreciate more than we can express the outpouring of love, support and kind words that we’ve been blessed with from our community and friends in the indescribable anguish of the last several hours. ‘Thank you’ is a far from sufficient phrase to express our gratitude. But, they are the only words we have. Please continue to keep our family in your prayers and thoughts as we try to move forward in a world that is darker without our Ayden.”
