The ladies of Peekaboo Media Group bring us a new segment to KXNW-TV 34, called REAL Northwest Arkansas.

With firework and burn bans going on in all surrounding counties, these ladies talk sparks of a different kind, the kind between you and your family. How you can plan a family-fun backyard get together than has your kids and husband begging to help plan.

"If you're going to watch fireworks, bring ear plugs or headphones," Kim Enderlee said. "Leave babies, very young ones, and other easily frightened children with a sitter."

Enderlee says to be sympathetic with your child if he or she is frightened. She said a child's fear of fireworks is both normal, and in most cases, short-lived.

"If you're doing fireworks at home, make sure everyone wears closed-toed shoes," Lela Davidson said. "Keep a bucket filled with water for disposing of spent sparklers and other fireworks."

Davidson said not to forget about themed drinks.

"I'm not very Martha (Stewart), but for a festive Fourth of July look that anyone can do, freeze blueberries and raspberries to put into any kind of clear drink."

You can use any kind of white wine to mix with Ginger Ale, Fresca, white grape juice, or other flavors as mocktails for the kids.

You can catch the ladies of Peekaboo media group, Loria W. Oliver, Lela Davidson and Kim Enderlee every Monday morning on KXNW-TV 34 in their new segment REAL Northwest Arkansas, or on their website.
